CPrefMiner: A Bayesian Miner of Conditional Preferences

چکیده
Customizing database queries through the use of user preferences is a research topic that has been raising a lot of interest within the database community in recent years. Such preferences are used for sorting and selecting the best tuples, those which most fulfill the user wishes. A topic of interest within this context is the elicitation of preferences, consisting of methods to enable the user to inform his choice on pairs of objects belonging to a database. Depending on the size of the database, this task may require a great effort from the user, and consequently may discourage him/her to use the system. In this paper, we propose a first step towards the design and implementation of an automatic tool for inferring preferences from a given sample of user preferences. Our method CPrefMiner we propose is based on the framework of Bayesian Networks and aims at mining a special kind of preferences, the conditional preferences. The two main learning tasks accomplished by CPrefMiner are: (1) Learning the graph underlying the conditional preference network; (2) Learning the preference probability tables associated with each node of the graph. This paper focus on the first task.

Mining User Contextual Preferences
User preferences play an important role in database query personalization since they can be used for sorting and selecting the objects which most ful ll the user wishes. In most situations user preferences are not static and may vary according to a multitude of user contexts. Automatic tools for extracting contextual preferences without bothering the user are desirable. In this paper, we propos...
متن کاملBayesian Prediction Intervals under Bivariate Truncated Generalized Cauchy Distribution
Ateya and Madhagi (2011) introduced a multivariate form of truncated generalized Cauchy distribution (TGCD), which introduced by Ateya and Al-Hussaini (2007). The multivariate version of (TGCD) is denoted by (MVTGCD). Among the features of this form are that subvectors and conditional subvectors of random vectors, distributed according to this distribution, have the same form of distribution ...
متن کاملPreferences, Links, and Probabilities for Ranking Objects in Ontologies
In previous work, we have introduced variable-strength conditional preferences for ranking objects in ontologies. In this paper, we continue this line of research. We propose a new ranking of objects, which integrates this userdefined preference ranking of objects with Google’s importance ranking (called PageRank) based on the link structure between the objects. We also propose to use probabili...
متن کاملUpdating Choquet beliefs
We apply Pires’s coherence property between unconditional and conditional preferences that admit a CEU representation. In conjunction with consequentialism (only those outcomes on states which are still possible can matter for conditional preference) this implies that the conditional preference may be obtained from the unconditional preference by taking the Full Bayesian Update of the capacity....
متن کاملBayesian Analysis of Survival Data with Spatial Correlation
Often in practice the data on the mortality of a living unit correlation is due to the location of the observations in the study. One of the most important issues in the analysis of survival data with spatial dependence, is estimation of the parameters and prediction of the unknown values in known sites based on observations vector. In this paper to analyze this type of survival, Cox...
